Only If I Knew

Longing or Belonging?

When you were away, I missed everything about you

I missed the way you smell, the way you laugh, the way your hands touched every inch of me

With each day passing, the thought of you coming back was making me nervous

I was gonna see you again, smell you, feel your touch

But alas, little did I know when you came back everything was different

Somehow you were different

It seemed you left a part of you behind, the part that belonged to me

You were not the same, nothing was same

It felt different, the way you looked at me, the way you touched me, everything was different

I was comprehending the fact that if there was something wrong, wrong with me

If there was something that I did, that changed it all

Everything that I thought you would do or say, you did differently now

You were not the same now

Your emotions, your actions, your words, they were all different

You are not the man who made me fall in love with him everyday

Not the man I dropped off at the airport and was longing for

Something was different, you were different

And I kept wondering if it was me or something that I did.

Only if I knew...

Only if I could ever know.
