One for Sorrow

A Poem

There is a magpie in my garden, he’s been there all week,

Just one lonely magpie, so sad & bleak,

I look at this magpie & he reminds me of you,

A mysterious creature, black, white, & a little blue,

He cawed to me twice in my life, with a warning from the land of decay,

And the reaper without even a whisper stole you & him away.

Today the magpie sat down beside me to comfort me while I cry,

He asked me to tell him about you, so I comply,

He was odd & he was kind, he was special in my eyes,

He was crazy obsessive, loyal, & protective,

He drove me mental but made me feel accepted,

He was my family, the one I choose, the one I wanted.

The magpie smiled & shed a tear “Tell me more, I like to hear,”

He loved how boyish I could be, I played the Xbox & talked filth,

He found it funny when I cursed, checked out women & burped,

I loved how sweet he could be, texting & calling to check up,

He was like a brother, I know he would defend me no matter what.

Then the magpie turned to fly away “Anything else to say?”

I will always be his first kiss & he will always be my best friend,

I hope to know him in all my lives, he was truly one of a kind,

And when the moon shines bright at night,

I’ll think of him my darling light,

You’ve gone to the house of Donn, may you forever live on.
