One Drink

Carelessness of a Drunk Driver

Her life was more than just a lucid dream

A lost soul, who was lacking direction

Skin crawling with death, she managed a scream

Who was this in the rearview reflection?

Falling apart, one dark thought at a time

She hated herself, she just wanted to die

Shame and guilt, over this horrific crime

“I’M NOT A KILLER!” she wanted to cry

She shouldn’t have drove intoxicated

A family was dead because of her

Her heart beat hard, her thoughts were weighted

Her once fun life, was now a huge blur

Grief overcame her, with what she had done

She learned her lesson, although it just begun.
