One Dead Tree

A Miracle of Life

By Drew MarplePublished 7 years ago 1 min read

One dead tree

It sat through many of heaven's tears

And many more pieces of cold angel wings

Once a solace to many fears

But now through the air it's loneliness rings.

Once it created bountiful life

Once the sky was full of colour

Once the ground was full of life

Once the tree was happy.

Now everything it touches is dead

Now grey is the only colour

Now the ground is dirty and choked

But soon a miracle will become uncloaked

The song of the earth begins to sing

A beautiful solo. A quiet hum.

And for the first time in a long time it opens its wings

For sometimes out of death life becomes.
