One
From my 2017 Collection of Assorted Poems
Something borrowed, I cook you some food.
Ramen noodles all week
Laughing about the amount of salt
To make it rhyme, the amount was crude!
Who are you now?
a friend?
a foe?
Perhaps only another passing bedfellow.
The blush on my face is still something I can’t erase.
I missed you so, I missed you so.
Something blue as tears streak down my cheeks.
We stand at the bus stop, with promises of next week.
“I’ll see you again, don’t cry my dear.”
I’ve heard that before, the door leads to fear.
Now thinking back, I feel foolish: disgrace.
I missed you so, I missed you so.
Something old, a flame was still there.
You were the first to make love, we opened each other's souls, nothing we didn't bare
I felt you smile, and with each dive against crashing wave, real care.I missed you so, I missed you so That's what I always heard love wasDeep at its core under the fluff and hazy fuzzBut time moves on as time often doesLove passes on as love often doesI have grown older nowThrown my hands up, the answer is just becauseDeep at it's core under the fluff and hazy fuzz
I loved you so, I loved you so
