Once and Forever
A Poem of Heartbreak and Forgiveness
“Who are you but my goddess, my muse?”
Love is a treasure that we use and abuse.
But please my friend don’t you ever stop trying
Because to live without love is, in reality, dying.
Don’t turn away and let the sun set
Because one day your heart will feel only regret.
As bright as the moon is, it’s not bright enough
To light up a world that is without passion or love.
They claim that the wolf is alone and quite brave
But to be a lone wolf is to be weak and afraid.
Remember the law of the jungle and see
That a part of the pack is what you’ll always be.
Sometimes the wolf may stumble and fall
But with the help of her pack, she answers the call –
The call of the mountain, the wind, and the earth
That reminds us that mistakes are made since our births.
It’s true that wounds of the heart are painfully deep
And the steps that we take are equally steep.
But steps we must take if we want to heal
Because if we don’t feel pain, do we really feel?
Love is a well that is forever deep and full.
To quench our great thirst can take quite a toll,
But even when the well appears to run dry,
There is always a drop far down inside.
The wolf is claimed to mate once and forever,
And that instinctual vow even death cannot sever.
The wolf is a lover, a protector, a mate.
He claims what is his and controls his own fate.
Mistakes can be made on a whim, on a dime,
And those grave mistakes only get better with time.
I have but one question before I’ll let you be.
Will you forsake the inner wolf, or let him run free?
