On the Run
From the Past, Toward the Present
Miles turn into hours
Hours turn into days
Days turn into weeks
Weeks turn into months
Years later I am still on the run
Running from all of the fantasies
Running from that time when I was young
From the time we were under the covers
Running from the homosexual thoughts
Running from the sexually immoral actions
Running from the guilt of not knowing
Running from the guilt of assuming
On the run from the things that once consumed my life
On the run from the things that held me hostage
On the run from the things that lead me to remember
On the run from the things that held me captive
Miles turn into hours
Hours turn into days
Days turn into weeks
Weeks turn into months
Months away from You
Weeks without hearing Your voice
Days out of Your will
Hours without praying
Time I cannot gain back
You do not operate on time
You are invisible yet very much alive
My sins have separated the two of us
Yet You seem to still love me
You still protect me
Provide for me
Saved me from my iniquities
You have given me chance after chance
Yet I have seemed to be on the run
On the run further away from Your will
On the run, further away from Your presence
Yet You will not give up on me
You will not allow me to fail
You have shown Your loyalty
You have made Your dedication clear
I cannot see You, but I can see You
I cannot feel You, but Your presence is made known
I cannot always hear You, but You are still speaking
I cannot see Your works, but things are going on behind the scenes
On the run, I am chasing You
On the run, I am reclaiming my life
On the run, running to Your feet
On the run, I can see You on the other side
On the run from the things that were
On the run to the things that are
On the run to You who IS
On the run to a better life
On the run for too long
On the run You keep me strong
On the run with You is where I belong
On the run I am after Your heart
