Oh, Baby

A Short Poem About the Stages of a Break Up

Oh, baby,

I haven’t been coping well,

Since the day that you left,

Although, I’ll admit,

It was probably for the best

I can pinpoint the exact moment,

My heart broke,

As the tears brimmed,

And I started to choke

I didn’t want you to leave,

I needed you by my side,

I wanted to beg,

But I still had my pride

I know you only did,

What you knew you had to do,

In your soul,

You knew this love wasn’t true

I thank you for all the memories,

All the good times that we had,

I’ll hold them in my mind,

And try not to be sad

It’s okay though,

I know that feelings change,

And that for a while,

Being without you will feel strange

I hope you find someone,

Who can give you all I couldn’t,

I will always love you,

Even though I know that I shouldn’t

I forgive you for the pain you caused,

Sometimes things have to end,

Don’t worry about me now,

I’m on the mend

One day soon I won’t feel down,

Your name won’t make me weep,

Instead I’ll be much stronger,

Our stories I will speak

Now you’re with her,

And I’m doing pretty well,

The past is the past,

I mustn’t dwell

I truly wish you happiness,

That you smile every day,

I just hope your memories of me,

Never fade away

Good luck with all you do,

I hope that you succeed,

And that you find the love,

That you so badly need
