Of Memorials and Tombstones
Lines In the Sand
I don’t know you
And I won’t honor you
If by chance, your stance
Was in opposition to the olive branch;
In connection to a state of mind
Where one is not defined as humankind,
As all the same, we must rewind.
I don’t know you
I could not cast you in stone,
If by demand, you acquiesced
And fought for all I do detest;
But rather, you, I would disown,
Place a marker on your tombstone,
Reading, “Here lies Traitor, name unknown.”
I know you, though,
And I won’t be silent
I know your wish for me is to quiet
If by chance, my stance
Is in opposition to your romance;
In connection to a state of mind
Where all are defined
As all the same, must I remind?
I do know you
And I am not casting stones-
I’ve been you and repented-
Seen and heard bodies lamenting;
In simple terms, I sleep no more
And bear arms as if at war
Lives are at stake and battle-worn.
I don’t know you,
And I won’t honor you
If by chance, your stance
Is in opposition to my olive branch;
In connection to a frame of mind
That doesn’t kneel with family(yours and mine)
We are the same and here’s my line.
