Of a Puzzle

Fear the sea.

Of a land so fair and true;

There is always a man, hated by more than a few.

He’s different and strange;

Many have preferred to see this man locked in a cage.

In a world so simple and pure;

Was a woman, desperately seeking a cure.

For she felt she was diseased;

Her body took the toll, of her mind never feeling at ease

These beings needed only but see past their own nose to see;

There was nothing wrong with them. They felt they needed to pay some dues, a fee.

The man’s body hang down from a tired head, cradling an exhausted face;

The man was ruined by his own war, a war that raged inside the globe upon his shoulders

The woman’s arms and legs bared mortal wounds, inflicted by a familiar hand;

She donned long sleeves and ankle cut jeans, for she wore a pink armband.

When they saw each other, they played the same coy game;

However clearly, they both knew they each had something to claim.

They had themselves to claim back, claim back from their lord, their tyrant;

But what held their mind, kept them moving in a tragic gyrant.

They shared a beautiful captor. They sat in the same prison, just in different cells;

Fear was their warden. Anxiety did hourly inspections. But sadly, they were blind to their parallels.

The man led the woman by the hand, he passed his own fire and flame on the way;

The woman broke down her walls of fabric, she felt he wouldn’t lead her stray.

They sank their eyes deep into one another’s. They found solace in a familiar stranger;

From there, their turbulent lives didn’t end. The sea was still a rough mistress for the two;

But they did have two things they didn’t have before.

They had love. And they each had a hand to hold.

None know, and will know, what became of these two.

However you need only but look around. For it might be you too.
