Ocean

(Or Falling in Love)

The last thing you see before you sink is your own reflection. For a split second you look your own self straight in the eyes as if in a mirror. Then the image fades away and the surface becomes your new sky. The world beyond the water veil becomes a distant memory. Submerged, you hear the whispers of the ocean. The distant roar of the waves intertwined with your heartbeat in your ears. With every beat you sink further into infinity. The endless ocean becomes your home, the ocean’s cold embrace becomes your “home”. Water is a serenity, the endless blue is a safe haven for all lost souls… It is a cradle of infancy, life was born and nourished there, death also resides. But… You shall not reach death, nor childhood with its purity shall be restored… You sink deeper, but reach no bottom, the spheres of air dancing out of your mouth, glisten above and become your new stars, your sun is no longer an orb of flames, but beams of light coming as if from the heavens. Life becomes a mirage, time seizes to exist… You transition from a mortal body to a metaphysical being residing in a new cosmos, created from the only matter that is infinite and ubiquitous – water. The ocean is in every raindrop, every snowflake and crystal of ice, in every droplet of morning dew, in every pond, river or lake, in every being within every heart… You merge with this force… You become one with Life herself and fold her by the left hand, by the right, you intertwine fingers with Death…

You are drowning…

There is no illusion of eternal life in this realm… You are drowning… This was hiraeth … This is what have longed all your “life” for… It is ephemeral… Ineffable… And you are serene…

This is no utopia…

This is no dream, no mirage, no lie…

This is no place for your sanity, your conscience is at peace…

Listen to your heartbeat…

Listen…

This is how you get lost…

This is how you drown…

In his eyes…

They are my ocean… And I…

I am drowning…
