Not Meant to Be

My heart breaks slowly, while my mind hides the pain,

One lonely tear rolls down my cheek as I can no longer take the strain.

My loss is too brutal, as my heart still stays broke.

As the little person I had is now just a ghost.

I close my eyes gently and take a deep breath,

I can still see your image as if it was fresh, and even though my mind denies the pain it still lingers lost in time

as my heart can’t forget your image which is securely set.

My head goes dizzy and my mind goes numb thinking “what if something was done?”

Lost forever,

Not even a grave,

No shred of proof,

Not even a name.

No memories to think of,

No tales to tell,

No 1st word to speak of,

Not even a smell,

Just a flash in my memory less than 2 months long and a feeling inside me that feels forever gone.

So as it is said as they lay our kind to rest,

Forever in my memory,

I will never forget.
