The Reality of Unrequited Love

Sometimes I want to tell you,

I wander if it's something I could do.

To explain how I'm feeling,

One possible outcome is appealing.

I know that I could,

If it was guaranteed to be like Hollywood.

I'd just be a girl standing in the rain,

And a kiss would be all that was needed to explain.

But reality stripped of the glitz and glamour,

What if I mess up? Or stu-stutter or stammer?

Or perhaps even worse,

I could speak in perfect verse,

But my feelings aren't reciprocated.

I'm left deflated.

Because although cinema taught me,

That if I wanted something so badly,

It's a guaranteed win.

Just dive right in.

Just open up about your feelings and express.

What have you got to loose? Don't stress.

But I could loose my best friend.

And that's not a part of my life I'm ready to end.

So I'm just a girl sat in silence.

Filled to the brim with compliance,

To accept things as they are.

Because sometimes wishing on a star,

Will only get you so far.
