Night Vision

A True Poem About a Night-time Walk Without a Torch

I’d run out of batteries

For my head torch

I wondered how I’d see

Leaving my porch

I felt the road with steps

Conscious of ground

Feeling hardness with feet

Mud! Turn around

I clopped along the road

Tip tap, tip tap

But then I lost my way

It was all black

I tried to feel with feet

The ground turned soft

I guessed and marched along

Face held aloft

When clunk I hit my knees

What caused that thud?

Collided with a fence

Yes there was blood

And now my knees are bruised

Wrist twisted too

The fence is all mangled

But dog did get a poo
