Questions Answered by a Growing Instagram Poet

Instagram is a social media platform that is growing rapidly and has became a great revenue for artists and entrepreneurs. In this series, I will write articles on these people.

The first person in this series is Instagram poet goes by the name nickbluecharms.

Nick did not initially start writing poetry. At first he was writing records after becoming inspired by his idol, the alternative artist, Lana Del Ray. Early in 2017, Nick started writing poetry in addition to records. By the time he started his poetic journey he had already developed a distinct voice and style from his record writing. I was attracted to his work by his uncommon vocabulary and mysterious vibes. I felt like I had to step back to acknowledge it in its complete meaning.

Belle Denka: How did you come to poetry?

Nickbluecharms: It was something I got deeply inspired by one of the alternative artists. And I just wanted to do something like her tribute to being trailblazer for many years. I was overwhelmed and I decided to do something like her. I started writing records. Her name is Lana Del Ray.

So your style is obviously inspired by Del Ray, but are there any other factors in that development?

No there isn’t. I realized I’ve made my own style in poetry and people were loving it. So I kept on.

Why poetry and not music? Or do you do both?

No. Music won’t take me anywhere, but writing records and publishing it would and then in 2017 since I was short on time, as I was getting into college for engineering, I started writing short poetry out of whatever I’ve written on in five years were only records. It took me like five years to put the trippy theme and the surrounding for my records and the fact that it’s gonna be in my book, music is impossible.

What is your main inspiration for the topic of your poems?

It’s basically the whole 90s era with all those numb and vigilant vibes. Kind of Charles Butowski and Del Ray but bringing them together I also use words that people don’t use to make it more my type. I’ve no inspiration other than Lana Del Ray. I know it sounds bogus but yeah. Her young and beautiful song inspired me so much I was like I need to make something like this anyhow.

Was there any specific song or experience when you wrote this (The poem “Affection*”)?

No, it has that rhyme I came up with so I wrote it.

What are your messages in your poems?

My poems have no messages. I basically put the vibes surrounding like a scene or act.

What has been your favorite thing about writing records and poetry?

It brings out the vibes I want to bring out and make it more exotic-new- trippy. I like to write more about moments than what lies behind it. Also rhyming it in ways that is different. Not boring. Not like what’s out there.

If you could talk to Lana Del Rey right now, what would you tell her and what record and/or poem would you show her?

I would just giver her my book and tell her this what you’ve made me do. Like whatever I’ve here is because of her and the day she’ll stop writing albums I’ll stop writing poetry. She inspires me like god and she’s already given me enough.
