My World

Welcome to America

I am from a closed minded place.

I am from a place where a boy cannot like another boy,

Because that isn’t traditional.

A place where you have to suppress your feelings.

I am from a place where it is only acceptable to speak your mind,

If your tongue has decided to say what They want to hear.

Where you can’t be free,

A place where you don’t choose what to think.

I am from a place where women are seen as toys,

Where they are seen as something for men to play with until they get bored.

And yes, you have to keep the baby,

Even if it kills you,

Because that’s murder.

A place where you do what’s best for the collective.

I am from a place where secrets are kept,

Where we pretend everything is fine,

Even though it’s in shambles.

A place where nothing is okay.

I am from a place of hate,

Where only the “pure” are welcome.

Where Our blood must run through your veins,

Or you must leave.

A place where only the best succeed.

I am from a bad place,

A place that is run by a madman.

A place, complete with a welcome mat that reads,

“Welcome to America.”
