My People

There are things I want to articulate today.

As a young educated black woman.

In this month, this month where my people shine

We are magic our hair defies gravity, our skin soaks up sun rays

We are magical

We are black and beautiful

We have been through the most horrific events

that most people would never survive

We are not lazy, We are tired

Tired of the years of segregation, oppression, appropriation,

We think its funny

when people hate us yet everyone wants to look like us

We thinks it’s hilarious when people want be us yet

They could never want to walk in our shoes

They could never do what we do

They could never did what we did

We are magical

We are beautiful

We are BLACK
