YouTube animation about my name

This is the first video for IGTV not including the intro video. I thought it would be the best way to introduce myself there because my name is important to me. It has shaped me in weird ways. When I was younger I would only be friends with people that remembered my full first name was hyphenated. Also, I would avoid people that didn’t remember. Maybe I shouldn’t have taken it so seriously. It was mainly because I didn’t want to upset my mum whose father was Lewis. Therefore, most people would leave out the Louise bit of my name.

At primary school I went by Vikki-Lou. Many kids would spell it Loo. At high school I remember getting overly angry about people forgetting the second part of my name. I also kept getting paranoid that people would purposefully not say the Louise bit. Especially, if they called me Vicky or Lou because they knew how much it annoyed me. Therefore, when I went to uni I wanted everyone to call me Sweetie because it was like my second name. I over thought the whole thing and thought the I would be from the Victoria and the E from Louise. Then in my second year I started introducing myself as Victoria because I just thought sod it. However, later I realized that being angry is normal just like all emotions. I suppose looking back I needed a rest from being angry at all the people who didn’t care how much my name meant to me. Also, I needed a rest from explaining my name to everyone who wouldn’t call me what I wanted them to call me. It took a while to iron out people who didn’t value me and I don’t feel that my name helped me with that. I’ve always only been close to the people that understand how important my family's memory is to me.

Nowadays I don’t care as much about what people think and I’m very proud of my name and Nagy is a very common sir name. After everything I’m finally happy with my friend group and my colleges as I’m working at a Box office with a bunch of creative people. Gabe has an art degree, Oliver is a music producer, Kerrie writes and paints, Faye likes to make digital art, Sian Performs, Will plays guitar and Dom draws.

I thought my name would be the best place to begin

because it makes my family grin

I had 2 granddads 1 was named Victor,

who was a plumber,

and the other Lewis,

who was a refugee from Hungary.

Unfortunately, both men died within 3 months of each other,

which devastated my mother and father.

Nevertheless, 11 months after victor passed,

my birth was forecast.

After much deliberation my parents decided that if I was a girl they would name me after my granddads.

Obviously, changing the name to a las from lads.

Making my name Victoria-Louise.

You can image 6 syllables didn't please.

Vicky, Lou-Lou, Vikki-Lou.

It sounds like a toilet cleaner if only I knew.

Now, people call me v-l.

So, I don't yell

because it's a negotiation.

My granddads get some recognition,

and you get to say my name quickly.

Sometimes I just say my names Victoria because there is no quick way to tell this story.

I love my name because even though my granddads couldn't be with me physically or in memory.

They were there through my name hereditarily.

My middle name is Nagy.

Don't judge

It means big and grand

It’s from the Hungarian land.

Yes, my surname is really Sweet

which is pretty neat.

I'm also sweet by nature.
