My Heart

I once had my heart in tact

It was fine and well

But you came and made it beat faster

Made my stomach adopt butterflies

And my tongue lose its words

Once I got comfortable with you

I gave you all of me

Even my heart

However the bumps and cracks life threw our way

Was too much for you

So you tossed my heart and the rest of me onto the floor

And ran out the door without even saying sorry

I stayed on that floor up until I realized who I am

I’m strong, independent, and extravagant

I was alone before him I can do it again

So my heart may be covered in cracks

But at least it isn’t shattered.
