My Fog

Love Like Dying Clouds

I don't know if you remember

That day when the fog crept close

To our eyes

And we pretended to be annoyed

By the mist

That crept into our open mouths

Like smoke, when we whispered

All the things we had never told

Anyone, not even ourselves

I remember the way

Your hair curled into the sky

Like it was dying to hold hands

With the clouds

And I remember watching you

Smile, softly,

As if I was going to scold you

For doing so

I wish I could freeze that moment

The moment I realized

That you were my fog

Clinging to even the most tattered

Parts of me

Drifting down when the sky

Sighed

And I knew, even through the haze

That I would love you

For as long as the clouds

Decided to let me
