My Constant Rock

Never forget your mother.

I remember when I was small

My mother would come and get me from school

When days had dragged on and on

A mothers hug and I'd forget all.

Those days when safety was holding me

Every time I looked in the eyes of my mummy

I then knew, I was home.

If I could take, one memory

One perfect time I had with my mummy

I'd choose the moment that lasts all night

So I'd never forget, my mummy who brought me to life.

As time passed by, I forgot why

My mum had said, I was her best of friend

I just wanted to be alone

But I never knew, that could not be

For every second, watching over me

My guardian angel knew where I was

The pain I felt from all the wars

The life I had within my heart

The ups and downs from end to start

She knew me better than anybody else

Most probably better than I knew myself.

Yet there she waited so patiently

Refusing to fill her best friend vacancy

As in her heart, she always knew

It was me she wanted to be there too...

So as I grew older and walked away

She knew that there she would always stay

In case I came back to the arms I knew

The ones I needed to carry me through

The hardest moments, the toughest of times

The longest runs and the highest climbs

For when all the fakers had slivered away

I knew my mother was where she would say

So I would go back and there she would be

Waiting for me so happily

Full of love and full of joy

Opening her heart to her baby boy.

So time will pass but my mum will stay

My constant rock in every way.

No matter the hurdle, no matter the tide

She is there to support me, by my side

For that is the secret of a deep true love

Something so true you can't dispose of.

So no matter how old I am or will be

She will always be my beautiful mummy.

I love you, mum!
