My Christmas Carol

A Poem

I wonder if I were to be visited by 3 Ghosts...

What would be the lesson that I would learn most ?

Would I change my ways just like Old Ebenezer ?

Would I even be open to conceive them.

As I sit here on this Christmas Eve...

With memories fading of all I used to believe.

I wonder of my future, my present and my past...

I feel sorrow over all that didn’t last.

And I stare at the Christmas tree not making a sound.

The lights still captivate me after all these years.

I seem to get lost in time and suddenly found...

As I look away between my hopes and fears.

Another Christmas Eve is about to pass...

Once again there’s no Snow outside.

Once again there’s no Woman by my side...

But there is a tiny hand in mine.

And while all the Fantasy and Romance of this Festive season.

Can get you carried away in all that Dreaming...

I know and I realise that I am blessed...

With this little Lady laying against my chest.

If the Ghosts were to visit I wouldn’t change a thing.

For this Christmas Eve it is very clear to see.

Beneath the Dreams and the Fantasy in me...

I know I am where I am exactly where I’m supposed to be.
