My Best Friend

I know you think it's creepy when I watch you sleep.

Sleep my sweet angel, sleep.

For when you are dreaming you are free.

There is no problem, not a care in the world.

Here, I shall take care of you, I give you my word.

Rest that beautiful head of yours,

full with your bronze smooth hair.

Release the tension in your body;

breath this cool, clear air.

Keep your bright light eyes closed,

so that you don’t see what society has imposed.

In you dreams, you fate is your to seal,

and anything you don’t want is no longer real.

I see your chest move up and down;

it goes not too fast, nor too slow.

I wish I could enter your mind now,

and take a look at all you do not show.

You shift a little and I startle a bit.

With one eye opened you look at me

and I look away, afraid you would see

that I drew you, while you were asleep.

Awake you are now,

and I need to protect you somehow.

But rest assure,

for your weight I can endure.
