Mud Brothers.
Through the wilderness of fear.
I watched the illusions disappear.
As strength and determination suddenly grew.
Something became clear...
Through the blood, sweat and tears...
There was a faith so pure and true.
With Brave Heart and Courage strong.
Shoulder to shoulder and soldiering on.
Many will not understand.
Through the swamps, the shocks, the Ice.
There were no limits to our sacrifice.
Just when we needed it a helping hand.
A shoulder to lean on.
A voice to keep us strong.
An inspiration to help us fight.
The finish line was soon in sight.
Carrying each other with legs that wobbled but didn’t break.
We gave all and took all we could possibly take.
Under the barbed wire, through tunnels so thin...
Feeling all around us closing in...
When the fear began to reappear.
It vanished without a trace.
With the comfort of you near.
A Brother's hand and tight embrace.
We climbed our way to the top.
With great pride I forever look back now.
How we made it through together.
Someway, somehow.
We may not of been the quickest.
For there were so many others.
But we shared our own special victory.
Me and my Mud Brothers.

I have been writing Poetry since I was a teenager. Now in my late thirties I enjoy it more than ever. I find it a wonderful release and it helps me to free my mind and understand myself and my emotions.
