Wave after wave, after wave, over me.
The salt it stings my eyes.
I see a whale and he looks back at me.
Why, whale, why do you cry?
I took a pale pink boat out to sea,
With a blue and starry mast.
The clouds were grey,
And the sea was green,
And the sky was overcast.
I don't know what to think.
Should I fly or should I sink?
The sky's so high,
And the waters so warm,
I don't know if I can calm the storm.
Wave after wave, after wave, over me.
The salt in stings my eyes.
The currents cradle and carry me,
So I'll just drift for miles.
Why, Mr. Whale, do you seem so lost?
Why do your tears flood the sea?
Why, tell me why, tell me why,
Do you cry?
Whale, cry for you, cry for me.
You're the biggest creature at sea.
Why are you afraid?
I'm not afraid, not of you, or for me,
So lets go and find a spade.
I want to find the sunken ship,
And dive down to the deep.
I want to find the buried treasure,
And take it to the beach.
Wave after wave, after wave, over me.
The salt it stings my eyes.
I must stop swimming,
I've become wrinkly.
I'll breathe the air a while.
No, Mr. Whale, you can't come with me.
Swim back to the sea.
You'll become trapped,
On the shore, in the sand,
And drown here at my feet.
What are you looking for?
Where have you come from?
You don't need to swim anymore
Go enjoy the sun.
Wave after wave, after wave, over me.
The salt it stings my eyes.
I see a whale and he looks back sadly.
Why, whale, why do you cry?
Why, Mr. Whale, do you seem so lost?
Why do your tears flood the sea?
Why, tell me why, tell me why,
Do you cry?
Don't cry for you, cry for me.
Wash me away,
wash me away,
wash me away.
Why? Whale, why do you cry.
