Moving On

A Poem

New found life as sweet as kerosine, found lost within the darkness. Its scary how easily it comes alight with nothing but a spark.

Dark and deep becomes closer than our skin, pressed against one another as tight as we can stand it. Yet it is not tight enough. I press into you and you push back, but only to get a better look at me, at us.

What beauty in divine serenity we have this moment, stretching out into infinity, and beyond.

I hold you, a newborn baby treasure I want to hide from the world yet shout it from the rooftops, holding you high above my head for all to see.

I want to caress you and care for you, adore you until the end of our days, and beyond. And I will.

But time passes too slowly and I count the seconds till we meet again, indulging in bliss of day dreams from clouds above.

This is dangerous, you and I.

Too sweet for sugar and far from the narrow road we used to tread so carefully.

Yet here we are, step for step, running through woods so thick of false cheers and harrowed moans, hearing nothing but smiles and blood rushing from my hand through yours.

Trees pass as hunters prowl, and we prey know no sorrow as we trespass through meadows of forbidden fruit yet know the knowledge.

I have tasted the sweetness that drips from your tongue and I follow you to the edge of the world, fully willing to fall at the sound of your voice.

Thick honey bears no comparison to the touch of your hand, the feeling of your breath, the beat of our hearts.

I only hope it continues to trickle down our hands in this dark and infested place, lighting our way towards a new dawn.

I only hope, no matter how fast we run or how far we part, we will hear and feel one another as if we never moved.
