Morning Haiku

A Quirky Collection

Shining hazel orbs

Blink dreamily up at me

Full of innocence

Pull the curtains back

Early sun comes streaming in

Eyes smart with surprise

The cat attacks me

Gently, he demands his food

I just roll over

Warm in my cocoon

Time to face the freezing world

Or burrow further

Spider plant basks in

Warm rays at the kitchen sill

Welcoming the day

Everything feels clean

Biting air is fresh and pure

Infused with blue light

Am I still dreaming?

Dark and warmth and arms and legs

Where'd that light come from?

Calls of morning birds

Full of joy, in perfect tune,

Underscore my rest

Precious early time

Show me what I rarely see

Greet me with green scents

Field full of fresh snow

Soon mud, tapestry of tracks

I'm with you, at peace

Grass and leaves in sun

Seem much greener, and alive

Glistening with dew

Frosted crunchy leaves

Will go soggy very soon

My boot-prints mourn you
