Modern Crossroad Demons

The new crossroad deals

By Shanna FincherPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

I sold my soul to the Crossroad Demons

Not all at once

Piece by Piece

Little bite sized chunks

Small enough to not notice at the time.

Just like in the stories

The demons lied

"Just one more time" they said

"This time brings success and fortune" they promise

More little bites gone.

Now my life is spent

in service

to these demons

New promises I dare not believe

No end it sight

The demons no longer wait

at the crossroads

They wait in comfy boardrooms

Expensive, tailored suits

Looking at their stock portfolios

And selling students souls across empty tables

But now they call the deals, "loans"
