Mine Eyes Have Seen the Gory

Sad recollections and cannot be forgotten

Foggy brain didn't know what was wrong

Until years later

Now the scenes replay as a terrorizing song

Mind is a treacherous trader

- - -

Never to forget my assaulter

Never to forget when the bombs fell

Zoning out and mental falter

Desperate to, thoughts expel

- - -

Images of friend's body exploding

Lingering eyes touch me, making my skin crawl

Horrific, paralyzing sound of a gun loading

Checking out, finding a means to withdrawal

- - -

This, I'll never "just get over," like some say I can

Forgive maybe, but never ever could I attempt to forget

Suffering for the greater part of my lifespan

Never to shake free, or, new mental status beget

- - -

Oh Lord, please take me home

I want to see your coming glory

No longer can I bear this agonizing roam

I want to dwell in eternal territory
