The Daily Practice of Now

Mindfulness

The practice of what is happening in the here and now.

Running or walking

Deep cleansing breaths

Aware of the sound of your feet as they touch the ground

Shopping at the grocery store

What do I still need to get?

A deep breath in and exhale

I am mindful of those around me

The distinct noise of children and adults passing through; laughing and talking

The sound is clear but not distracting

I am mindful in the precise moment of now

Yesterday is a memory

Tomorrow is not promised

I remind myself of this in the private sanctuary of my inner thoughts

This is the practice of mindfulness

This is now

I take a deep cleansing breath and remember I am almost out of toothpaste

I am grateful for my mind has not wandered back to yesterday or what will happen tomorrow

I step outside and welcome the calm wind brushing my hair away from my face

A deep cleansing breath reminds of life

I am grateful for now

I am grateful for the practice of mindfulness
