College isn't for me
So it means I'm only worth $13.50
An hourly wage to avoid being a slave to a job I hate
and loans I can't repay
Having fights with myself on if I'd rather save some money or let Xcel turn out the lights
I have plenty of skills but without that piece of paper it all means nil to
The suits who will take the airhead with a degree who's never had to work
As hard as me
The cost of living keeps rising and generations before us keep denying
Their part in all the things that have helped make our lives hard
"We're inconsiderate and selfish"
But no one has really ever stopped and asked how they can help us
So we do things for ourselves which only gets us more hell
We fear who we are because someone somewhere said something that
scared us
So we yell and we fight and we protest
For equal rights and a better life, it's 2018
And we're tired of starving for the things we need, like healthcare
Because I shouldn't have to decide if that pain is really there
If I can't afford my copay what makes you think I can afford a penalty
come tax season, thanks I could've used that refund
Millennial's are suffering mentally
Anxiety, Depression, and fatigue
Chased back with craft beer and legal weed
That we somehow scrape together with our $13.50
Daydreaming of the houses will own as we munch our avocado toast at
Sunday brunch slinging back #mimosas&mary's
Snaps and 'grams for our few social media fans all
Before we get back home for some Netflix and Chill
The lonely Millennial hopes this time it's real
The world can be so lonely for us
Because the Millennial heart beats strong for progression and nostalgia
In a world we're just trying to salvage
