The Analogy of the Shopping Cart #VocalNPM

Remember when you were little and used to fit inside the shopping cart as your mom pushed you through the aisles of the grocery store?

If not, you must remember the days when you were finally deemed "big enough" to upgrade to the glory known to many as side-of-the-cart riding.

Oh the freedoms of side riding. No longer confined to the inside of the cart, you could get off and on as you pleased. Surely you must remember those days.

But then you reached a point, as we all did, where your mother complained you had gotten too heavy to ride on the side. Alright, back to the inside of the cart it is, you may have thought to yourself as I did. It would be a hard transition, but you would find a way to make do.

That was before you realized that you were too big for the cart entirely. And that you're mom wouldn't be letting you ride on the cart anymore at all. That's when you panicked. And your tiny little heart sank deep into your stomach.

The realization of that moment in my life was a strange thing. I didn't want to be too big for the side of the cart! Who wants to be too big for the side of the cart? No one I tell you, no one.

I didn't want to use my little toothpick legs to power my weight down the aisles of the grocery store. I wanted to ride high on the side, the wind whipping through my hair as we went.

But I had hit a milestone, I was growing up, and I had to deal with it.

And now, just as I did when I outgrew the shopping cart...

I'll put on a smile, roll up my sleeves, get to work, and wade through those strange feelings until I make it safely back to my comfort zone. Or rather, until I transform this new state into my comfort zone.

That is until the next milestone in life hits me. And the endless cycle of life spins on and on and on...

And it is spinning way too fast. Honestly, I'm feeling a little bit queasy so watch out...
