3pm.

A simple wave was sent to this falling star of misery.

You were the first white flag I noticed in five years and

with a smile,

you made me unload the heaviest of burdens keeping an anchor to this frown,

letting me know you refused to leave me to my comfortable isolation.

Fourteen days.

My forehead and heart were still just as feverish as my temper.

I didn't need to drag you through the mud of my high standards to prove your worth.

You had me with your bloodshot eyes so full of honesty, my heartstrings broke into miniature sparks of interest.

Five weeks.

We shared secret glances and burning brushes of skin as we passed each other within our work spaces,

testing the limits and breaking every rule in our books.

Scribbled notes written by hopeful and scarred hands were on the menu,

causing my appetite for you to grow and your walls of distrust to crumble before your eyes.

3 months.

Frozen hands had caused our souls to disappear before we met.

The winter storms swarming within our eyes were no match for the magnetic heat our touch provided,

melting the remaining doubts we wore on our coats,

and the fears our damaged lips constantly exchanged in between kisses,

bringing us closer than we ever have been.

1 year.

Scarce phone calls filled with natural laughter became the routine.

Twelve months was how long it took for me to answer your most asked question.

I love you because you mean everything you say with every ounce of pure unapologetic emotion,

and my starving and homeless heart wont ever dare to let go of these milestones until forever decides we've outlived it.
