#MeToo
I couldn't quite bring myself to post a Me Too status of my own, so I did this instead.
And we all said me too
The scrape of resistance in our gut
Coming up like too much to drink last night
Thrashed our throats too raw
Too cracked from screaming it to heavens
Or anyone who would listen
Like our hearts grew laryngitis
And we just can't find any more words
Besides me too
Like this sisterhood of sacrifice
This bond in battery
This army out of assault
That could not suffer one more sling and arrow of outrageous fortune
That could not withstand one more shaking hand
And key between fingers in fist
One more whistle between lips
That never reached ears
So we the walking whistle blowers
Packed our bruises on our backs
Smashed catcall cargo next to bloodied baggage
And marched on the world
Armed with little more than me too
Like it was just so simple
Like what more can be said
To explain the way such deafening noise
Can feel so silent
When the world itself warps around us
Twists itself into a terror
We cant recognize as home anymore
Or the subtle serpent of doubt
Invades even the most secret corners of our soul
The ones we thought we kept so well hidden from the horror
And what can we do but
Doom ourselves to be
Forever the Phoenix
Caught in cyclical cinder
Or else
Walk the coals of culture
Risk the self immolation of accusation
Gather our ramshackle resolve in hand
And stand amidst the hurricane of hostility
With shaking voice but steadfast mind
Saying
Me too
