Just a siren
Lost at sea
With every Thrust
Of the currents
Into the grubby sheets of your waterbed
The waves rose and
Crashed into the cave
That I had made my shelter
The saltwater stung
And stuck to my skin
Suffocating me
Drowning me
I had wanted a life on the beach but
I didn’t expect the storm
Craning my neck
I pray to Poseidon
Who must live in the crumbling drywall
And ask that the storm will soon pass
And suddenly it does
I wipe the salt from my eyes as
I sit up
Legs unstable
Wondering
How on earth
I am going to brave the next storm
