As I lay here tonight

I can’t help but think about my life. All the good

And all the bad

I remember the times I used to be sad

The times when I didn’t want to feel anymore

The times I didn’t want to speak anymore

The times I didn’t want to breathe anymore

I remember the days I felt alone

I remember the days I thought I was forgotten

I remember the days when I felt trapped

But here I am now

Thriving

Conquering

And prospering

I am filled with lasting joy

I feel things I never want to stop feeling

I speak my heart out

I breathe new life everyday

I’m surrounded by those who will never leave me

I create memories with those who will always cherish me

And I know now that I have always been free

Each day that goes by

My past life becomes a distant memory

For the past did not define me

It built me

It made me

Stronger

Wiser

And safer

I’ve had people leave me

And I’ve had people join me

I’ve had people disown me

And I’ve had people who have chosen me

But no matter what had happened

Or what will happen

All under control
