Memories

Her Hair the Color of the Sea

I still remember trying out all those dresses

Pretending to pick the perfect one for graduation

I can still feel the cold bitter wind on my face

When it lit up and smoked it all away

I can see you laughing next to me

Knowing things haven't been okay for a while

I watch as you do everything to fix everyone

But drown in your sorrows

Becoming busied so you don't go back

But the scars remain

The pills can't go back into the bottle now

I hear your voice

“Why did you leave me?”

I remember how your cry hurt my heart

You were scared

Hurt

I'm sorry

We tried to save each other

By showing how much it'd hurt

But instead we hurt ourselves

We let go

I'm sorry

I'll hold on from now on

Please don't fall again

You need to be here

Not for me, for you

You deserve life and all things good

You deserve to keep being happy

To strive for greatness

For love and honesty

The flowers

The teddy bears

The posters

The picture

That's it

Finally

The smile that wasn't faked

You captured it in a moment

A flash

It was gone

The moment saved for feasting eyes

Silence

She's carried away

They bow their heads

Crying

A girl screeches

Trying to find her way

Lost

She drowns

Her hair the color of the sea
