Man's Best Friend
To me, you're my world, and I'm sure that it shows through my wagging tail and my slobbery nose.
Hi, how are you — where have you been today?
Actually, don't worry, there's no time to say.
I'm so happy to see you, pleased you are back,
It's walkies, I see, as you shrug on your mac.
You talk to me, stroke me, ask how I've been,
I can imagine your day, and all that you've seen.
And it's true, I listen, down to every last word,
(Apart from that time where I chased a grey bird).
To me, you're my world, and I'm sure that it shows,
Through my wagging tail and my slobbery nose.
We walk through the park, and you throw me a stick,
And I'm off, in an instant, quicker than quick.
I amble straight back, with the twig in my jaws,
The long strands of grass teasing my paws.
It's things like this that I treasure the most,
Like that time we holidayed down by the coast.
The sky starts to fade into pink from blue,
We sit down on a bench and take in the view.
Sat by your side, I feel relaxed and content,
Being with you is always time well-spent.
I know that with you I'll be happy forever,
As long as we're going through life together.
We're the best of friends, and it's plain to see,
No-one else could love you as much as me.
