Lurcher

It was a cold and lonely night,That you passed an alley on a bikeYou heard a whimper and was curiousIt was a box, very mysteriousWhere did it come from? Why does it hum?Are you sure the noise came from here? You hesitate, are you full fear?It was beaten and brokenTagged with a collar that read, RodentIts eyes were bruised and aloneAnd it had a heart of stoneCould such a loyal creatureBe abandoned like the dreams of a dreamer? It is your best friendWho will follow you days on endBut you'll surely take it home to nurture,To bathe, and feed, and play with that lurcherBecause that box is no longer strangely curious'Nor is it a box that is very mysterious
