Making Sound, Not Speaking
Words don't work anymore.
words don't work anymore
they can't open the door
they can't light the way to a better path
I try to make sense of things, but it doesn't add up in the math
conversations don't heal either of us
we just open our mouths and pretend we must
I just break a little more
leave a few more chunks behind on the floor
then pick myself up and get back to work
muddling my way along, sinking deeper in the murk
all the while, those thoughts continue to lurk
then next time I start to shatter
I'll just break harder, faster
talking now is just masturbation
a continually unsatisfactory solution
