My tired eyes felt as if they hadn’t gazed upon the kiss of sunlight in years, and I began to wonder if the sun had ever been there at all—maybe it had never existed in my world in the first place.
Or maybe I simply was not deserving of that sort of warmth,
Or maybe I was built and designed to remain jaded, and cold,
Or maybe my body just wouldn’t know how to react if the rays were to ever grace my skin that had been deprived this whole time.
But once in your life, if you’re lucky, you’ll discover someone who makes you feel like the sun is rising for the first time and completely changes the way light looks altogether—Someone who not only brings that type of beauty into your world, but brings it out of you, too; Someone that will instill color and life into your soul during the times you feel you are not worthy of anything that isn’t monochromatic.
I have gotten lucky. He is my person, and I found myself blinded with the realization that my sun, my moon, and all of my stars that I had been missing the entire time—are him.
