Love Letter to Pot

A poem

You dance around my head

Foggy, then strikingly clear.

Hit after hit

Breath after breath,

You take me away,

Slowly, then all at once.

I close my bloodshot eyes,

Your touch soft as roses.

You make me forget,

If only for a moment,

The anguish of my mind

And the pain of thinking.

You fill my empty chest

With passion and warmth,

Relaxing my muscles

And quieting my thoughts.

But that floral touch

Can turn to thorns

Wrapped around my neck,

Trapping me in my own mind.

Escalating those thoughts, those deadly thoughts,

Shaking me from side to side.

Your thick breath filling my lungs,

My eyes tearing up.

But despite your volatile nature,

And the trifle laws

That keep us apart,

I have yet to leave you behind.
