Love Could Be vs. Love Is

Love isn't cut and dry.

Love could be a fairy tale desire,

But rarely does a person's path to it

Cease to have branches set toward other hopes.

Rarely is the first person to capture your gaze

The ultimate person to capture your heart.

Happily ever after closes the curtains

Hiding the true colors buried in archetypes

Either strengthening their bridge

Or stressing it into premature aging.

Love could be waiting for happiness to be shared,

But what if they hide your need?

What if their sorrow masks their goal

To be your air, your space, your demand-taker?

If they know you're just like them,

That you aren't always phoric

And that you aren't a nine-piece jigsaw,

What determines whether they see you

As a person or a personal building block

Is whether or not they willingly nurture you like a flower

And possess patience for sincerity to grow behind your smile.

Love could be planned,

But your grand thoughts of a book

Depends on what you see on the pages.

Love could be easy,

But it is a journey.

So are you willing to take it?
