A Poem of Mid-Twenties Emotion

take my hand and press it against the wall by the weight of yours

hold me still and whisper into my ear that you love me more

surrender to the way your lips feel against mine

and the way your skin makes mine fall in line

take control of me or let me do the same

whisper to me

ask me to take your last name

we can fall in love over and over every night

you say we can fall away and take on this world together

but for this night we simply can take on each other

the whole world around us becomes a silent backstory

and we fall in the spotlight moving slow

and we press

fall against each other again

you take me in again so say everything we’d never say out of the room

how we would go against everything to belong to each other

and we fall again

after we express everything we need to release
