Lost

In the Background

Lost at the horizon

Where all the rest of the world

Gathers in some crude mockery

Of reality

Something keeps me from it

I can't see passed the washed out

Watered-down

Version of life that surrounds me

I'm lost here

Camouflaged

By what hinders me

Lost in the background

Like a ghost in a painting

That you can only see

When I blink

Or sigh dejectedly

At the frame

That trapped me here

I stand at the edge of the world

With all that is beautiful

Laid out before me

But I can't see it

All I can see

Are my own inadequacies

Vaguely disappointing

Next to everything else

Lost in this turmoil

They tell me it's not real

It feels real to me

I'm lost here

Lost in the background

In the words

That fall

With significance

From my fingers

Only to be read

With indifference on paper

Lost in the background

Almost invisible

In my surroundings

This thing that's led me here

Keeps me here

I feel just like the seashells

That wash up on shore

Empty

Neglected

Discarded

A pretty trinket

For a passerby to pick up

And add to their collection

Only to be placed on a shelf

To gather dust

To blend in

Lost in the background

Somewhere else

About the Creator

A. R. Ambrosi

I like to write, if that makes me a writer, then rock on!

I started writing as a child because I ran out of stuff to read. So, I only write stuff that I like. If you like it too, awesome! Enjoy! ^_^
