Looking Up at the Night Sky

Last time I looked up at the night sky,

You were by my side.

Nothing else mattered at the time

Only you and I

You were telling me a story

But I was lost in the beauty of the stars

So, you came closer to me

And we stood in silence

It was quiet

But I didn't mind

Just being with you made me happy

You had promised you'd never hurt me

And even had yourself convinced I was "the one"

You said you'd love me forever,

No matter what would come

Tonight I looked up at the dark sky

Everything was different this time

The stars didn't seem to shine as bright

I have never felt so alone

As I stood there

You were on my mind

I thought of all the pain you caused

I thought of all your lies

I thought of all the broken promises you swore you'd keep

And just then

I began to remember your tight hugs when you had to leave

You brought me joy in one of my darkest times

At one point you told me you were different from the other guys

Then again, that is one of the most common lies

Now I know, you're with another girl

She's far more beautiful than I

But not enough to know why you'd want her over me

Although, I wish you two the best

But all I have to say now is...

Your version of "forever" went by fast
