Long Nights Are Filled with Thoughts of You I Cannot Stand

A Poem

long nights are filled with thoughts of you i cannot stand. your face was like the first snow storm that kept me home bound. you were my home bound. i have been growing a tree in my lungs for the past seven years for you. i named it after you. my first love. every last one of your words a branch. you disappeared, again. you took each tree branch with your words growing on them and cut them all down one by one and now my lungs have collapsed. i have no more breaths for you to steal. i have no more tears to drown in. i have no more time to give. your name forever the name on my tongue. that name. it's the name forever tattooed all over the walls of my atriums and your voice forever echoing in my ventricles. it’s in my chest where you sleep. your words collapsing my lungs. your name inked inside every heart beat. no one can take your place. you are the one still to me, you are the one. although i am through even if you decide to give back in i pray that i don’t reciprocate because the respect i have for myself has to trump yours. if i want to survive this it has to trump yours. i am important. i am beautiful. i am a hurricane of fire tearing through this earth with every step i take away from your direction. i am worth it. you are not. you are not worth it for the simple fact that you are not seeing that i am. i will forever have you permanently stained inside of each cell that runs through my veins. i cannot erase you. i cannot regret you. i cannot forget you. because feeling until i cannot feeling anything anymore is worth it. the emotion that i have felt for you kept reminding me how alive i was. am. you gave me something to remind me how alive i am in this life. because loving something in the ways that i loved you all these years, gave me my worth, your worth, and the worth of being alive.
