Loch Ness

A Poem

Dark is the sky

Darker the water

Waves lap against the shore,

The slightest of sounds,

Amid an eerie calm.

Gray is the sky,

As it's reflected in the water.

A deep abyss,

That masquerades as a lake,

Keeping the secrets,

Of a people long ago,

And those of its own.

Those legends surround,

A disturbance in the water,

A kelpie of the Loch,

Or a monster,

Banished by a Saint long ago.

But who can say,

What really haunts,

The Loch of the River Ness.

Dark is the sky,

Darker is the water,

Darkest is the fabled water monster.
