Little Cindy

For you to feel as you feel right

Nobody heard little Cindy cry

Nobody heard her call.

She’s just a little child

But you cannot deny

She’s the most precious of us all.

Nobody listened to little Cindy’s plea

Nobody saw her pain.

The wide eyes, ripped lips

And dark blue knee;

All her words in vain.

Nobody noticed little Cindy’s silence

Nobody saw her go.

Our eyes are closed

As we hide from the violence

And we just don’t want to know.

Nobody saw her head split wide

Nobody saw the blood.

Who was there by her side?

Someone for her in which to confide

To stop the red sea flood.
