This poem is for our daughter, our little one.
Your name was Dakota, you were supposed to be born this June.
You had amazing long legs and feet, just like me.
You had dark eyes and hair, just like your dad.
We would have loved to tickle your little toes, play with you "I've got your nose."
We couldn't wait to hold your hand,
or watch you smile while you ran.
Watch how your life began.
Your dad wanted to show you where he worked,
carry you up high with so much pride.
Oh, we would have protected you from the little boys.
We would have loved to see the beautiful woman you would have become.
Watch you grow, we both fought hard for you, Dakota,
We want you to know, It happened too soon,
We both lost a part of us that day, you will always be our little one.
Don't you fear, mommy and daddy will always be near.
Always know that you are so loved and you will never be forgotten.
